TESTING PROCESS:

TRAINING

  • Out of state applicants will complete a two-week Equivalency Academy

 

  • Lateral officers begin with an accelerated Field Training program consisting of three phases

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Age: 21 year of age at time of appointment

 

  • Education: High School Diploma / GED

 

  • Free of felony convictions

 

  • Experience: Lateral applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a police officer, and have worked as such at least 24 months within the last 36 months serving in a City, County, or State police agency and must have graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC), or another state sanctioned general authority Washington State police academy (pursuant to RCW), or a full authority out-of-state police academy recognized by CJTC for equivalency.

 

  • If you do not meet the in-service requirements of a Lateral Police Officer, we also have Exceptional Entry Level positions. Exceptional Entry Level candidates must meet the same requirements as a Lateral Police Officer, with the exception of time worked as a certified, general authority police officer (less than 24 months).
