Hamilton County, Texas is 836 square miles with a population of 8,298 and was founded in 1858. It’s two major cities, Hamilton and Hico, are known for their rich historical significance as well as being the dove capital of Texas. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is looking for qualified candidates for the open positions of DEPUTY.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office offers the following:

  • Starting annual salary of $45,000
  • Medical insurance for employee paid for by county

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for full-time Sheriff’s Deputy positions. Deputies perform a wide variety of law enforcement activities and functions. All tasks are community, service and protection oriented, and include collecting and dispensing information, arbitrating disputes, providing assistance, protecting and recovering property, preventing and investigating criminal acts and providing other public protection services. Duties include an element of personal danger, such as, exposure to life-threatening circumstances, apprehending criminals and transporting prisoners. The candidate must be able to act without close supervision and must be able to exercise independent judgment. Deputies perform duties in accordance with federal, state and local statutes and the established policies and procedures of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must hold a Basic Peace Officer License or higher (TCOLE)
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be willing to work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off
  • Must be free of any criminal record (above class C misdemeanor)
