Cadet Pay: $56,000 annual 

Entry Level Officer: $60,000 annual

The Sterling Police Department wants you! We are actively hiring those that are POST certified, those actively attending a police academy, and lateral police officers. Officer Salary

Starting Officer Pay: $60,000.00

2yrs:$61,800.00

3yrs:$63,654.00

4yrs:$65,563.62

5yrs:$67,530.53

6yrs:$75,502.00

Corporal starting:$76,529.00

Sergeant starting:$86,919.82

Wanna earn up to $5200 more a year on top of the above salary ranges, you can do so by being selected as a instructor, being on the SET (Special Enforcement) team, being on the regional Swat team, K-9, or being a Field Training Officer. Extra duty assignments paid by assignment, with a limit of 3 being paid extra. Extra Duty assignments include Firearms Instructor, DTAC instructor, Less Lethal Instructor, Taser instructor, Driving Instructor, SET member, and SWAT operator.

Earning potential as a 6 yrs officer with 3 extra duty assignments starting January 2025 is $80,702. In addition to that, a Associates Degree adds another $1,000 a yr, and a Bachelors Degree adds another $2,000 a yr bringing the earning potential to $82,702 (w/ Bachelors Degree and x3 extra duties with one being an FTO). *Degree must be in a related field. Sergeants & Corporals can also qualify for extra duty assignments & degree pay. 

When positions open there is promotion potential to Corporal, Sergeant, Detective, or Commander. We work 14 out of a 28 day period, 12 hour shifts, giving us the ability to use 3 days of PTO and get 10 days off. We also have shift bidding based on seniority.
