Job Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to recruit and train police officers, ensuring they meet the minimum qualifications to maintain the required licensure. The role involves coordinating with external training providers, planning, and implementing Missouri Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) approved lesson plans, and delivering in-service training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and create POST-approved lesson plans for police officer training.
  • Recruit candidates for police officer positions.
  • Input and maintain training data and records.
  • Coordinate training programs for new recruits and reintegration.
  • Provide instruction and support for in-service training programs.
  • Regular attendance is essential for job performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of law enforcement practices and POST requirements.
  • Familiarity with effective teaching, learning techniques, and curriculum design.
  • Proficiency in basic business English (spelling, grammar, composition).
  • Ability to use business software applications (Microsoft Office, Power DMS, Google Suite).
  • Understanding of classroom instruction, professional development, and training design.
  • Experience developing recruitment strategies and delivering training programs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on clear messaging.
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, maintain accurate records, and stay task-focused.
  • Comfortable using a computer, phone, and related office equipment.

Qualifications:

  • 60 or more credit hours from an accredited college (coursework in Criminal Justice preferred).
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in law enforcement accreditation or a related field.

Working Conditions:

  • Generally Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional nights and weekends required.
  • Interactions with others may require persuasion and consideration of different viewpoints.
  • Job impacts the organization in terms of time, money, and public/employee relations.
