Tisbury Police Department
Base Annual Salary Range: $86,088 – $118,828 (New Contract)
Base Hourly Rate Range: ($41.23/hr. - $56.91/hr.)

This recruitment cycle is open to anyone interested in beginning a career in law enforcement. We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team. Academy training is not required, but preference will be given to those who have already successfully graduated from a full-time MPTC Academy. MPTC Bridge Certification considered. Lateral transfer experience will be considered in determining the Pay Step when hired. Those who have not yet attended the academy, if selected through our hiring process, will be sent to train at an upcoming MPTC Academy. While attending the police academy, recruit officers will be paid the current Step 1 pay scale along with full health and dental benefits. Out-of-state lateral transfer applicants must contact the MPTC at 781-437-0300, www.mass.gov/mptc, to ascertain eligibility for certification. Several specialty assignments are offered including: School Resource Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Drone Pilot, Detective, Tactical Response Team Operator, Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force, DEA Drug Task Force, Firearms Instructor and Armorer, and Court and Evidence Officer.

The application submission process will remain open until all positions are filled. All applications will be reviewed and added to an eligibility list. The most highly qualified candidates will be invited to one or more interviews and/or other assessments. All applicants will be notified of their standing in the process as soon as a decision has been made regarding their individual application.
Appointment of the final candidates will be contingent upon the results of pre-placement conditions including criminal, motor vehicle and credit record checks, as well as a PT Test (MPTC Academy Standards), PAT Test, physical exam, psychological exam, drug screening, and thorough background investigation.

Minimum Qualifications:
U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, valid MA driver's license, High School Diploma, and the ability to obtain a MA L.T.C. Applicants must pass an oral interview panel, Chief of Police interview, have graduated from or successfully graduate from an M.P.T.C. approved police academy and must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of a Police Officer.
